EpicRides is a real-time ride-hailing platform serving the US market, supporting on-demand rides, a private ride marketplace, shared carpooling, driver onboarding, subscriptions, digital wallets, and integrated payment processing. The platform currently generates over $5K+ in monthly recurring revenue (MRR).

My work focused on designing the backend systems powering real-time ride dispatch, geospatial driver discovery, concurrent seat reservations, asynchronous payment processing, Socket.IO communication, and large-scale state management across riders, drivers, and administrators.

The platform combines synchronous APIs, real-time communication, Redis-backed coordination, and background processing to power ride matching, shared mobility, payment workflows, driver compliance, and live trip management while maintaining a responsive experience under highly concurrent workloads.

Some of the more challenging engineering problems involved preventing race conditions during ride acceptance and shared seat allocation, maintaining consistent real-time state across multiple participants, and designing an asynchronous payment architecture where business workflows safely continue only after external payment confirmation.

Some implementation details and business-specific information have been intentionally generalized to respect confidentiality.
